A pool is great. But a backyard built around a pool - with real shade, storage, and a place to actually hang out - that's something else entirely. This Apex build is a good example of what's possible when you treat the whole outdoor space as one cohesive project instead of just adding things piece by piece.
We started from the ground up. Framing, sheathing, Tyvek wrap, roofline - all of it built to last, not just to look good for a season. The pool house itself got board-and-batten exterior siding painted in a clean white with dark trim accents. It hits that modern farmhouse look without being overdone. A sliding glass door opens the structure right up to the patio, which makes the whole space feel connected.
The covered pergola section extending off the pool house is one of our favorite parts of this build. It creates a real outdoor room - somewhere to sit out of the sun without being closed in. Paired with the outdoor kitchen setup and the stone fire feature centered on the patio, this backyard has layers to it. Every element has a purpose.
From a carpentry standpoint, this kind of build pulls in a lot of what we do - structural framing, exterior carpentry, and finish work all in one job. Getting the proportions right, making sure the roofline reads well against the structure, nailing the trim details - that's where experience shows. You can throw a lot of materials at a project, but if the bones aren't right, it won't come together the way it should.
Builds like this one are genuinely fun to work on. There's a real before and after. What started as an empty lot behind a house became a full outdoor living setup that actually gets used. If you've been sitting on plans for something similar, this is the kind of work we do every day.
